“I’m so that person that’s like, ‘What’s going on, what happened?,'” she said about the fight that left Cardi with a knot on her head and a torn dress. After retreating to a hotel room to change and relax, Aguilera said her makeup artist told her that she might be interested in something that happened while she was working the stage. At first the singer heard the fight took place during her performance of “Fighter,” (“which is so appropriate!”), but then it turns out it was during “Genie in a Bottle,” which also kind of made sense since she said she does a “Migos version” of her breakthrough hit that might have gotten Cardi excited.
Christina never got a chance to talk to either woman about the commotion they caused during her set, but rest assured she was not upset it happened during her performance, only that she missed it. She also talked about how if she’d had social media 20 years ago when she was first coming up it’s possible some of the beefs she was involved in then would have looked way different. Say, for instance, her alleged issues with fellow teen pop starlet Britney Spears. “If we had social media back then we probably would have done a song together and squashed that,” she said, noting that she is totally “down” to record a duet if Britney’s reps approve it.
The singer also described looking forward to her first tour in a decade, and being nervous about how she’s going to keep being a fierce “mama bear” with 10 year-old son Max at home with his dad and 4 year-old daughter Summer on the road with her. “She is going to be my road dog and she has my back,” Aguilera said.
