America’s Go-To Favorite Pies for a Pizza Party

This past Friday was National Pizza Party Day.  So what’s your favorite place to place a mega order for family, friends, or coworkers?  And remember this is a pizza PARTY, so you will not be ordering from that fancy place that charges $50 a pie.  (Unless you’re a PIZZA BALLER.)

According to a new report, Pizza Hut is still America’s favorite pizza chain.  19% said it was their preferred place for a mass order.  (So maybe there’s still a runway for it to be revitalized with its planned nostalgia push.)

Domino’s was next at 17%, followed by Papa John’s (11%), Little Caesars (5.3%), and Marco’s Pizza (4.7%).

That said, 22% say they’d choose some “other local or regional brand,” rather than any of the eight national brands suggested in the survey.

Of course, there’s also been an uptick in the frozen pizza industry, but in periods of surging prices, like now, consumers are extra sensitive to VALUE.

If a pizza joint starts charging a higher amount, especially on top of delivery, fees, and tips, people will just get their own frozen pizzas. But if frozen pizzas are charging FRESH pizza prices, obviously the reverse will happen.

Of course, it’s very possible that we LOSE the value battle, if EVERYTHING goes up in price.  But I have hope.

Local businesses don’t have the scale of national brands, but it’s much easier to find opportunities to make a mark on local communities, and to offer a higher level of quality control.  There’s value in that.
