Five Random Facts for Wednesday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  The first dog park in America was established in 1979 in Berkeley, California.

2.  Octopuses are one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet, capable of solving complex puzzles, using tools, escaping captivity, opening screw-top jars, and stacking rocks to protect the entrances to their dens.

3.  Salvador Dali once conned Yoko Ono into paying $10,000 for a blade of grass. Yoko had offered to pay that amount for one of his mustache hairs.  But he secretly substituted the blade of grass because he thought that Yoko Ono was a witch and might use his hair in a spell.

4.  Yosemite National Park has struggled to design garbage cans, because they have to be easy enough for humans to open, but complex enough so bears can’t, and they’ve found there’s a, quote, “considerable overlap” between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.

5.  Comet tails always point away from the sun, because they’re created by solar winds.
