It’s National Chocolate Covered Anything Day – and Our Favorite Is Chocolate Covered Bacon?

Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.  There’s a map of every state’s favorite chocolate covered . . . whatever.  And unfortunately, INSECTS did rise to the top spot in one state.

Overall, the most popular thing to cover in chocolate is BACON, believe it or not.  Thanks to Middle America for making that happen!

Specifically, bacon is the top choice in:  Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Bananas are the most popular in:  Nevada, Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, and Virginia.

Almonds are #1 in: Maryland, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Utah, and Washington.  While people prefer pecans in:  Arkansas, Louisiana, and South Carolina.  Peanuts are loved in South Dakota, and macadamia nuts in Hawaii.

Chocolate covered strawberries are the most popular in:  Alaska, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.  While cherries win in:  Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and West Virginia.

Here are the more unique preferences to cover in chocolate:

Blueberries:  California

Apples:  Pennsylvania

Pineapples:  New Jersey

Grapes:  Kentucky, while raisins are #1 in Illinois and Washington, D.C.

Pickles:  Ohio  (???)

Popcorn:  Florida

Pretzels:  Delaware

Potato Chips:  North Dakota

Coffee beans:  Idaho and Kansas

Crickets:  North Carolina.  (Hey, somebody had to say it.)
