When it comes to dessert, are you someone who craves a cookie? Or THREE? Or are you ACTUALLY fine with a few apple slices?
There’s a new survey out on sweets, which is timely, because some people are STILL recovering from devouring ENTIRE CHOCOLATE BUNNIES.
Overall, 81% of people consider themselves “sweet treat people”, meaning they gravitate toward sugary treats rather than savory ones.
The generation with the biggest “sweet tooth” is: Gen Z. 86% of Gen Z’ers say they’re sweet treat people, and 72% of them say they “need one to six servings of sweets every single day.” For comparison, only 57% of Boomers agree.
Of course, younger adults are more likely to be able to handle sugary diets with fewer consequences. But there may be other health BENEFITS too.
Sweet treat people are more likely to grade their mental health as an “A” than people who aren’t (46% vs 41%). And sweet treat people also report being more satisfied in their careers and relationships.
And 37% say eating sweet treats is “one of their top sources of happiness.”
The top five favorite sweets are: Cookies (61%), ice cream (61%), chocolate (51%), candy (49%), and cake (47%).
