Forget Martinelli’s – You Can Buy $100 Non-Alcoholic Champagne

If you’re looking for a celebratory cheers WITHOUT the booze, many people go with Martinelli’s sparkling cider.  It might be boring, but it’s only a few bucks a bottle.  But what do you do if you want to spend MORE money?

There’s a company called Oddbird that produces non-alcoholic wines and “dealcoholized champagne.”  It’s supposed to have “the craft and taste of an elevated sparkling beverage.”  And you definitely pay for it.

A bottle of fake champagne costs $100, and believe it or not, there’s a WAITLIST for this stuff.  (???) I guess it’s cheaper than FANCY alcoholic champagne, which can be HUNDREDS of dollars a bottle.

The company says that’s a bargain because, “The process of de-alcoholization is not cheap, you’re getting a premium experience that delivers ritual, community and artistry, and [you have] to pay for that.”

“De-alcoholized” wine does seem more “elevated” than grape juice, but it’d better taste INCREDIBLE.  (This product is called “C”, for champagne, I guess. Or maybe “C-Note”???)

(If you’re intrigued, YOU can join the waitlist, here.)
