BuzzFeed asked people to share the biggest red flags that someone at work is pretending to be smarter than they really are.
Here are some signs that your coworker has no idea what they’re doing:
1. If they don’t shut up about themselves. Careful of anyone who constantly brags about their education or experience, but never actually finishes their own tasks.
2. If they love to schedule endless meetings. If everyone else is answering the questions, they never have to do the work themselves. It’s a good way to hide their confusion.
3. If they’re the loudest person in the room. Be wary of them. Usually they’re just repeating someone else’s idea and acting like it was theirs.
4. If they can’t handle their emotions. If their only response to anything going wrong is blaming people and getting angry, they’re in over their head.
5. If they ever start a sentence with, “I asked Grok about it.” Enough said.
And one of the best responses was, “I had a boss who would ask me to do lots of very simple things for him because he was so ‘busy’, Turns out, he just didn’t know how to do those things.”
