If the Winter Olympics inspired you to get in shape, here’s how to leave a little room to be LAZY about it.
“The Washington Post” just did a story on a running hack called “Jeffing.” (???) It’s spelled like the name . . . J-E-F-F-I-N-G.
It’s actually a well-known term in the running community. Former Olympian Jeff Galloway started using it with novice runners in 1973.
So what is “Jeffing”? The good news is it’s easy to do, almost by default. If you start feeling tired, just walk for a while. Basically, that’s “Jeffing.” (???)
If you’re not in great shape, it’s how you’d jog ANYWAY. It’s just nice to know it’s so common, there’s a term for it.
Jeff says the best approach is to start BEFORE you feel gassed, even at the beginning of your run. Just jog for 30 seconds, walk for 30 seconds, and repeat.
He even starts some people off with 10 seconds of running per minute. The idea is to start small, and go easy on yourself.
