Getting married in a funeral home seems like a bad omen, however, it’s a GOOD OMEN for a couple to be THIS chill and adaptable.
A couple in Iowa named Alexis and Rean Webb planned to get married at a courthouse last Thursday, just two days before Valentine’s Day. It was supposed to be an intimate thing, with a few loved ones.
They were all waiting at the courthouse when they found out that the judge they had an appointment with wasn’t going to show up. And there wasn’t another judge available to marry them.
They were disappointed, but Alexis’ father stood up and said he had a friend, Jody, who was ordained. Jody and his wife owned a funeral home, and he agreed to marry the couple, that day, at the funeral home’s chapel.
Everyone drove over, Jody spent some time talking it over with Alexis and Rean like a regular officiant would, and then he married them!
Alexis said, “It was even better than we expected because we did get a real wedding in a sense. We’re in a chapel. I got to walk down the aisle with my dad. The girls got to be flower girls. My son got to be the ring bearer, and Rean’s son got to be his best man. I mean, what more could we ask for?”
And Jody loved it too. “It goes back to my career as a funeral director. The phone rings? I go. You don’t say no. You help people. I think that’s what the good Lord put me on the Earth to do, I was happy to help.”
