This Year’s Olympic Medals Are Worth More Than Ever

Most Olympic athletes aren’t doing it to get rich.  But they could make a decent chunk of change if they sold those medals, even for SCRAP.

A new report found gold medals are worth more than ever this time. We’re talking about the raw materials they’re made of.  The fact that they’re Olympic medals makes them worth more, obviously.

Gold and silver prices are through the roof this year.  So someone looked at how much each medal would be worth if you just melted it down.

Gold medals?  $2,300 each.  They’d be worth a lot more if they were SOLID gold. Just the outer later is.  The rest is silver.

Silver medals?  $1,400.  Silver prices have dropped back down a bit, but they hit an all-time high last week.

Bronze medals?  $5.60. (???)  They’re actually made of copper, not bronze.  It’s worth way less than silver and gold.  (Bronze is an alloy.  Usually around 88% copper and 12% tin.)

So if you won a bronze medal and melted it down, you’d almost have enough for a Big Mac.
