A record 8 million Americans are expected to fly sometime over the next two weeks. If you’re in that group, here are four tips straight from the TSA . . .
1. Don’t wrap your gifts. If your present triggers the alarm, they’ll have to open it and inspect it. Instead, they recommend using either a gift bag or box.
2. Traveling with food. Solid food items like fruitcake, candy canes, and chocolates can go in your carry-on. Liquids and spreadable foods like eggnog, wine, champagne, sauces, and jams should be packed in checked bags.
3. Remember you need a REAL ID or passport now. Earlier this year, it became a requirement for adult travelers to have a REAL ID, passport, or other approved ID for flights in the U.S. And beginning in February, they’ll start CHARGING if you don’t have it.
4. When in doubt, send them a DM. The TSA is pretty active on X. If you have a question about what you can and cannot bring on a flight, send then a DM at @AskTSA, or text TRAVEL to 275-872.
