Gen Z continues to buck trends left and right. Now they’re actively inviting Mom to intrude on their LOVE LIFE?
“The Wall Street Journal” has a story on an emerging trend: Single people are outsourcing their online dating accounts, and letting their PARENTS take over on apps like Bumble and Hinge.
They talked to a few people in their 20s and early 30s who’ve handed it off. They all said they’ve been on dating apps for years, swiped left too many times, and just can’t find anyone. So maybe Mom and Dad will have more luck?
One woman who’s doing it said she has to veto a lot of her mom’s picks, because the guys just aren’t her type. “She’s picking guys who are wearing Gucci. And I’m like, okay, but how are they gonna do on a hike?”
It CAN work though. Another woman said her dad talked her into going out with a British guy who was slow to respond at first. The dad liked him anyway, so she gave the guy a chance, and now they’re a couple.
Either way, it’s giving parents a taste of how HARD dating is in 2025. One mom said she was shocked to see so many profile pics of guys in “hunting gear or drinking from a handle of liquor.” (Oh, cool! She came across MY profile!)
So, single people. Are you desperate enough to let your MOM play matchmaker? Or is that a hard pass?
