10 Things That Happened 10 Years Ago This Week

TheTopicalFruit.com did another round-up of 10 things that happened 10 years ago this week. Here’s what was in the news a decade ago.

1.  Reese’s Christmas Trees looked like something else.  They’ve been selling them since 1993.  But photos went viral in 2015 after someone pointed out that if they melt in their wrapper, they look more like a TURD.

2.  Kobe Bryant announced his retirement in a poem.  He announced he’d be retiring at the end of the season.  We tragically lost him in a helicopter crash in 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.

3.  Ringo’s copy of “The White Album” went up for auction. It was the FIRST album pressed and they expected it to sell for $60,000.  It ended up selling for $790,000.  (!!!)

4.  Santa stole a helicopter in Brazil.  A guy dressed as St. Nick rented a helicopter and claimed he was doing some sort of Black Friday surprise.  Instead, he picked up an accomplice, kicked the pilot out, and stole the thing.  (We checked and couldn’t find anything about him ever being caught.)

5.  Adele broke ‘N Sync’s single-week sales record.  Her album “25” sold over 3 million copies its first week, aided by her label holding it back from streaming services for a while. The record stood for a decade until Taylor Swift beat it last month with “The Life of a Showgirl”.
