Bath & Body Works Is Making the New York City Subway Smell Like Christmas

Call me a traditionalist.  But I think any respectable transit system should smell like B.O., and only B.O.  If you pass through Grand Central station in New York this month, don’t be surprised if it smells like CHRISTMAS.

Bath & Body Works is doing a stunt through the end of the month where they’re pumping in the smell of vanilla and fresh pine.

It’s only on one subway platform where you catch a quick shuttle train to Times Square.  They added a bunch of diffusers to steel beams on the ceiling that release scented puffs of air throughout the day.

They say it’s the first smell-based ad campaign that’s ever been done in the New York City subway system.

A reporter for the “AP” talked to one New Yorker who said he likes the idea.  “It smells better than the normal New York City tunnels that we normally smell.”
