It’s a tough economy, and a lot of workers are dealing with “downsizing.” So let’s have some fun with it, and pretend YOU are hired to decide who gets to stay and who has to go.
A social media post is going viral, which says, “General Mills hires you, and you have to decide which component to eliminate from Chex Mix. Which is the first to go?”
There are six classic options: Wheat chex, corn chex, square pretzel, circle pretzel, mini breadstick, and rye chip / cracker.
And it struck a nerve, because THOUSANDS of people weighed in. Here are some of the most popular comments:
1. “Easy: Mini breadstick. Next question.”
2. “One of the pretzels. You don’t need two.”
3. “The rye cracker, any day.” Rye actually took a LOT of heat early on.
4. “Rye chip. They’re gross and look like diseased toenails.”
5. “The rye chip. I feed that to my dog, and he doesn’t like them.”
6. And then, the rye DEFENDERS stormed in. “There are two types of people: Those who think rye chips are the best part and then people who are wrong.”
7. “Y’all hating on rye chip for no reason. It’s the best one here.”
8. “The rye chip has divided the internet.”
9. “Rye chip stays. Bagel chip comes back, and replaces the square pretzel.” (Hey, bud. No one said anything about new components or “re-hires.”)
10. “The breadstick. Replace it with more rye chips.”
11. “Circle pretzel. We already have the square, and it’s got more crunch.”
12. “Square pretzel. It hurts the roof of your mouth if eaten wrong!”
13. “Mini breadstick or a pretzel. I guess circle pretzel. Wow. I took way too long thinking about this.”
14. “Give us the OG recipe with chex, pretzels, and peanuts. That’s it.”
(I’ll say, this is the Absolutely Correct Ranking of Chex Mix Components: Rye cracker, yea I said it, wheat chex, square pretzel, corn chex, circle pretzel, and mini breadstick. I split up the pretzels just for fun. And IF we’re cleared for a new hire, I’d bring in Cheez-Its. What about you?)
