Nicki Minaj knows how to send The Barbz into a frenzy with very few words. On Wednesday morning (Sept. 24), the rap queen broke her month-long social media hiatus with a cryptic X post teasing her next musical project.

With a simple, “3.27.26” followed by a CD emoji, it was enough to get the people going — no explanations or follow up posts needed.

The announcement currently has over seven million views and over 101K likes on X with fans obviously ready for what will likely be Minaj’s sixth studio album. Back in late 2024, the “Blessings” rapper teased that both a tour and a fresh body of work was slated to drop either late 2025 or early 2026 — and it looks like she plans to keep her word.

Many fans expressed their excitement, while others did what the internet does best and threw shade. “And when the world needed u most… u APPEARED,” wrote one person on X as another joked, “Nicki please don’t play with me. blink twice if I need to save for tour. March is my bday month.”

A third person threw a little jab with the remark, “Announcing a 2026 album in 2025 Cardi [B] is pressing everyone in the industry,” with a fourth person writing, “someone is butthurt over Cardi B’s successful album. How many Pink Friday’s can you make?!”

The latter comments refer to Cardi’s anticipated sophomore album Am I The Drama? which was released last Friday.

Minaj last dropped Pink Friday 2 in December 2023 and immediately debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The 22-track project made history moving 228,000 units in its opening week, making it the biggest first-week numbers for a female rap album in four years. It also cemented her as the female rapper with the most No. 1 albums ever.
