A woman named Natasha has been getting DOZENS of calls from people saying that they’ve found her missing cat, named “Torbo.” There’s just one problem: She’s never heard of a cat named Torbo.
She lives in British Columbia, Canada, and the calls have been coming for around a YEAR. The calls about Torbo have mostly been coming from the U.S., and she has no connections there.
She DOES have a cat, named Mauser, but Mauser is safely enjoying the air-conditioning at her house, and wasn’t seen wandering around Albuquerque.
And Natasha just now figured out what was happening. Her partner finally got a caller to explain how they got the number, and that person said that the number was on a T-SHIRT that they bought. The shirt has a missing cat poster, with “Torbo,” and Natasha’s number.
The company that made the shirt said they’ve pulled it, and a rep said, “The use of a real number within the art created was not intentional.”
The woman says she plans to keep her number. She said she’d like a “real apology” from the company, and added, “I feel like I deserve a T-shirt after this.”
(Here’s an image of the shirt, and more from the line.)
