Have you ever gone all out on your birthday? Maybe your 21st? This guy chose his 57th and really did it up.
A man in Key West, Florida named Jonathan Winslow is facing charges after he celebrated his birthday last Friday by doing meth, stealing a trolly, and driving it around town picking up tourists. (???)
There’s a famous trolly in Key West called the Conch Tour Train. It looks like an old-timey train and does 60-minute tours. It’s been operating since 1958.
Jonathan showed up at the station at 11:30 A.M. last Friday, which was also the Fourth of July. He left his Kia out back with the engine running and rock music blasting on the radio.
He told an employee he used to work there, and asked if he could take a look at one of the trains. It’s not clear if he actually ever worked there or not. He then hopped in one of the trollies and took off, leaving the employee “confused.” They thought maybe he had permission to take it, but he didn’t.
Cops eventually found him on the other side of town at the famous Southernmost Point Buoy. He’d driven at least a mile and picked up several passengers.
When they told him he was being arrested, he said it was his birthday and claimed he just “borrowed” the trolly. They say he was speaking fast, like he was on something.
They searched him at intake and found a pipe in his pocket. He claimed it was for weed, but it was a meth pipe. He’s facing charges for burglary, grand theft auto, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
(Here’s his mugshot.)
