Did you drink any of these over Memorial Day weekend? Or maybe ALL of them, and you’re regretting it? “Food & Wine” did a new beer ranking, the best North American lagers based only on taste.
They just looked at MAJOR brands, the ones you’d most likely see at parties. They ranked 20 overall, and also listed their top pick in different categories.
Their editors did blind taste tests of all 20 beers. And they gave the #1 spot to Brooklyn Lager, made by Brooklyn Brewery in, you guessed it, Brooklyn, New York.
1. Brooklyn Lager
2. Sam Adams Boston Lager
3. Modelo Especial
4. Narragansett (Nair-uh-GAN-sett. It’s popular in New England, especially Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.)
5. Coors Banquet
6. Corona
7. Miller Lite
8. Pabst Blue Ribbon
9. Bud Light
10. Miller High Life
Pacifico (11th), Coors Light (12th), Tecate (13th), Natural Light (14th), Yuengling (15th), Busch Light (16th), Red Stripe (17th), Budweiser (18th, wow), Rolling Rock (19th), and Michelob Ultra ranked last.
They also gave their top pick in six different categories: Best Old-School Craft Beer, Sam Adams, Best Mexican Lager, Modelo, Best for Dive Bars, Narrangasett, Best American Classic, Coors Banquet, Best Light Beer, Miller Lite, and Best for the Beach, Corona.
