1. Next year, the term “action figure” will turn 60 years old. “Action figure” was first coined by Hasbro back in 1964, to market their “G.I. Joe” figure to boys who refused to play with “dolls.”
2. Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t do his own German dubbing for the “Terminator” movie, because his accent is actually pretty rural, and the studio felt it didn’t match the character.
3. Crayola has crayons called Carnation Pink, Piggy Pink, Pink Sherbet, Pink Flamingo, and Tickle Me Pink, but not one that’s just regular old “Pink.”
4. Out of the 20,500 or so Major League Baseball players since 1876, only 12 were from Alaska. The most famous by far is Curt Schilling, who was born in Anchorage.
5. If you make it to the top of Mount Everest, you’ll be standing in both Nepal and China. The border between them goes right through the peak.
