There’s putting your foot in your mouth, and then there’s what French Montana did on Twitter on Wednesday night. The rapper stumbled across a Twitter user who had written, “The fact that French Montana thinks anyone cares about him..????”
Montana, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch, replied with an insult that sent Twitter into a tizzy. “U musty crusty dusty rusty ass hoe With them nappy ass poetic justice braids take your c-m drinking D—k banging ass somewhere n be humble????,” he tweeted.

Montana’s response was viewed by many as anti-black, the Root points out. “Cus if we being honest, her hair ain’t even nappy.. French Montana only called it that because she black,” one user tweeted.
Another user brought up that Montana is dating Iggy Azalea, a white rapper who has repeatedly been called out for cultural appropriation. “A non black man who loves black culture, makes money off the culture and hates black people. And he dates white women who wanna be black,” they wrote.

Unsurprisingly, the rapper has spent the hours since the offending tweet trying to explain that he didn’t intend for his tweet to come off as racist.
As of press time, Montana’s original tweet is still up.
