Sunday is National Ice Cream Day. But a new poll found we’re more likely to eat it this SATURDAY.
29% of Americans say Saturdays are when they’re most likely to eat ice cream. Fridays are next at 19%. And the most common time to eat it is 5:42 PM.
72% said ice cream is their favorite dessert. Here are a few more quick stats on America’s ice cream eating habits . . .
1. 49% usually eat ice cream out of a bowl, 35% said a cone, and 17% don’t mess around, just straight out of the carton.
2. Our top five flavors are chocolate, 15%, vanilla, 12%, mint chocolate chip, 12%, butter pecan, 10%, and cookies-and-cream, 9%. After that, it’s strawberry, cookie dough, salted caramel, rocky road, and pistachio. (A recent report from Instacart found vanilla is the most-purchased flavor at stores.)
3. Our five favorite ice cream toppings are hot fudge, caramel sauce, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and chopped nuts.
4. They looked at which states have the most ice cream SUPER-FANS, and NEW JERSEY ranks first. 58% of New Jersyans identify as ice cream experts.
All of the Top 10 states are over 50%: New Jersey, New Mexico, California, Kansas, New York, North Dakota, Connecticut, New Hampshire, South Dakota, and Utah.
Missouri ranked last at 31%. Then Michigan and Montana, 35%, Oklahoma, 36%, and Indiana and South Carolina, 37% each. (Here’s the full map.)
