The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” broke the Billboard Hot 100 record for longest-charting solo song after 78 weeks on the chart.  It replaced Jason Mraz‘s “I’m Yours”.

The song is on its way to claim the overall record, but first it needs to surpass  Awolnation‘s “Sail” at 79 weeks and Imagine Dragons‘ “Radioactive” at 87 weeks.

“Blinding Lights” won “Top Hot 100 Song”, “Top Radio Song”, and “Top R&B Song” at last month’s Billboard Music Awards.
