Former NASCAR Driver Dick Trickle Committed Suicide

The man with the greatest name in sports history is no longer with us. Former NASCAR driver DICK TRICKLE committed suicide yesterday. He was 71. Trickle reportedly shot himself at Forest Lawn Cemetery in North Carolina shortly after noon yesterday.

Police say Trickle called the local dispatcher and said they'd find his body there. Emergency vehicles were sent to the cemetery, where they found Trickle's body next to his truck. He left a suicide note, but the contents have yet to be revealed.

Trickle retired from racing in 2002.

David Beckham Will Retire from Soccer at the End of the Season

DAVID BECKHAM announced yesterday that he's retiring from soccer at the end of the current season. There are only two games left to go. Beckham is 38 years old. He made his professional debut with Manchester United in 1992, when he was 17. He thanked his current team, Paris St. Germain in France, for giving him the opportunity to continue competing, but he added, "I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level."

Beckham made his name during the 10 years he played for Manchester United. He also played for Real Madrid and the L.A. Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

Beckham has 97 career goals, 62 of them with Manchester. He's won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a 1999 Champions League title. He also made 115 appearances on England's national team, including three World Cup appearances. He's the only English player to score in three separate World Cups. Back in February, a 34-year-old homeless surfer and hitchhiker named Kai briefly became an Internet sensation. Kai was hitchhiking in Fresno, California when a man picked him up. The man announced he was JESUS, plowed into a truck, then got out and bearhugged a woman, shouting racial slurs. Kai saved the woman by smashing the guy with a hatchet.

When the local news interviewed Kai, he came off as funny, wild, and just a little bit crazy, and the video went viral. There was even an autotune remix of it.

Well, bad news. Yesterday morning, the police in Union County, New Jersey issued an arrest warrant for Kai, whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, on suspicion of MURDER. He's been linked to the murder of a 73-year-old lawyer named Joseph Galfy in Clark, New Jersey. Yesterday afternoon, Kai was arrested at a bus station in Philadelphia.

Kai made a Facebook post on Tuesday claiming a stranger drugged him and raped him. He made the post one day after the police found the dead body, which might be a clue.

ABC Has Announced Their New Shows for the 2013-2014 Season

ABC has revealed their schedule for next season, and in the process, they announced that the "Dancing with the Stars" results show will be dropped next season to make more room for their new stuff.

There will only be one, two-hour episode of "Dancing" each week, meaning that the performances and results will somehow be combined into a single, two-hour show.

"Dancing with the Stars" has had a separate results show since Season Two in 2006. Ratings for the results show have declined in recent seasons. It's still pulling in a decent audience, but it's the lower-rated of the two episodes.

Meanwhile, ABC also announced that they're airing a "Toy Story" special in October called "Toy Story of Terror". It'll be a half-hour long, and feature, "all of the favorite characters" from the three films.

Here's a rundown of ABC's new shows for next season:

"Back in the Game": A sitcom about a divorced single mom, who "reluctantly moves back in with her estranged father, who's a former baseball player." She starts coaching her son's little league team, and finds herself, "drawn back into the world of sports she vowed to leave behind."

"Betrayal": A drama about a woman who starts having an affair with an attorney, but then finds out that her lover is going up against her husband, who's also an attorney, in an upcoming high-profile murder trial.

"The Goldbergs": A sitcom about an "in-your-face mother" and a "hot-tempered father" who are raising three kids in the 1980s. It stars Wendi McLendon-Covey from "Bridesmaids" and Jeff Garlin from "Curb Your Enthusiasm".

"Killer Women": A drama about the only female member of the Texas Rangers, the law enforcement agency, not the baseball team. It stars Tricia Helfer, who was Cylon Number Six on "Battlestar Galactica".

"Lucky 7": A drama about seven gas station employees in New York who win a multi-million-dollar lottery jackpot.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.": The first live-action TV show set in "The Avengers" universe. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is a major character on this show, even though he pretty clearly DIED in the "Avengers"movie.

"Mind Games": A "quirky," confusing drama starring Christian Slater and Steve Zahn as brothers, who start an agency that solves people's problems, "using the real science of human motivation and manipulation."

"Mixology": A sitcom about "a group of 10 singles looking for love at a Manhattan bar over the course of a single night." That's right, the ENTIRE show will take place during just one single evening.

"Once Upon a Time in Wonderland": A spin-off of "Once Upon a Time" that features an "Alice in Wonderland"-type storyline. John Lithgow will provide the voice of the White Rabbit.

"The Quest": A FANTASY reality show where competitors engage in various challenges in, "a land of magic and malevolence, where mythical creatures lurk in the woods, agents of darkness stir in the shadows, and mystical beings infiltrate the keep."

"Resurrection": A supernatural thriller set in a small town, where dead people begin showing up on their loved ones' doorsteps, looking exactly like they did on the day they died.

"Super Fun Night": A sitcom starring Rebel Wilson from "Bridesmaids" about some female friends who like to have fun on Friday nights.

"Trophy Wife": A comedy about a "reformed party girl" who suddenly becomes a "trophy wife," after marrying a divorced man with three manipulative children.

Nine People Who Were Banned From "Saturday Night Live"

Someone at Buzzfeed.com has put together a list of 9 People Who Were Banned from "Saturday Night Live". Here are the ones they listed, along with the reason why they were allegedly booted:

1. The punk band Fear, for trashing the "SNL" set back in 1981.

2. Steven Seagal, for being a bad host, and being a jerk to the cast and crew. He hosted back in 1991. The next year, Lorne Michaels supposedly told Nicolas Cage that Steven was "the biggest jerk who's ever been on the show."

3. Adrien Brody, for a horrible, 45-second, ad-libbed introduction to musical guest Sean Paul in 2003.

4. Elvis Costello, for playing his politically-charged song "Radio, Radio" in 1977, even though he was explicitly told to play his single "Less Than Zero". His ban was lifted in 1989, and he's performed several times since.

5. Frank Zappa, for doing a terrible job of hosting the show in 1978.

6. Martin Lawrence, for being extremely filthy in his monologue in 1994. He dissed the censors, and launched into a commentary about feminine hygiene.

7. Cypress Hill, for lighting a joint onstage, and trashing the stage and their instruments during a performance in 1993.

8. The Replacements, for a bad, drunken performance in 1986. They missed whole verses, repeated lyrics, stumbled into each other, messed up guitar lines, and screamed obscenities at the audience.

9. Sinead O'Connor, for ripping up a picture of the Pope, looking into the camera, and saying, quote, "Fight the real enemy."

Brad Pitt Calls Angelina Jolie's Mastectomy "Heroic"

BRAD PITT spoke out yesterday about ANGELINA JOLIE'S choice to undergo a double mastectomy. He said, "Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie's choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic.

"I thank our medical team for their care and focus. All I want is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family."

In a separate interview he said, "I'm quite emotional about it, of course. She could have stayed absolutely private about it and I don't think anyone would have been none the wiser with such good results.

"But it was really important to her to share the story and that others would understand it doesn't have to be a scary thing. In fact, it can be an empowering thing, and something that makes you stronger and us stronger."

Brad also said he was proud of Angelina for keeping humanitarian commitments around the world including the Congo and London just a few weeks after having the double mastectomy.

Back home, he says he and the kids turned the whole thing into a game, "We set up our own little post-op recovery that became pretty fun. You make an adventure out of it."

Angelina Jolie Had Both of Her Breasts Removed to Prevent Cancer

ANGELINA JOLIE has revealed that she had both of her breasts removed to prevent cancer. Don't worry, she had them surgically reconstructed afterwards. In a piece in this morning's "New York Times", Angelina says her doctor told her she has the BRCA1 gene, which is one of the so-called "breast cancer genes". And because of that, she had an 87% risk of getting breast cancer, and a 50% chance of getting ovarian cancer. So she made the choice to have both breasts removed.

She went through three months of medical procedures, which were completed on April 27th. The implants were the final step, and apparently, the results were WONDERFUL. She says, "There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful."

Angelina praises BRAD PITT for standing by her through it all, "I am fortunate to have a partner who is so loving and supportive. Brad was [with me] for every minute of the surgeries. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has." She adds, "On a personal note, I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity."

As for why she chose to go public, Angelina says, "There are many women who do not know that they might be living under the shadow of cancer. It is my hope that they, too, will be able to get gene tested, and that if they have a high risk they, too, will know that they have strong options."

The Writer-Director of "Brave" Is Upset that Disney Glammed Up Merida In Order to Make Her a Disney Princess

One of the things people love about Disney's "Brave" is that the lead character, Merida, is a fierce, young, independent woman who would NEVER conform to sexist gender roles. Until now.

Disney has named Merida its 11th official "Disney Princess". And with that title comes a brand new, glammed up makeover that's making a lot of people angry. (Check out a before-and-after pic here.) (Feminspire)

One of those people is BRENDA CHAPMAN, who won an Oscar for writing and co-directing "Brave". She's LIVID about the changes they made to Merida, calling it, "a blatantly sexist marketing move based on money."

She adds, "There is an irresponsibility to this decision that is appalling for women and young girls. Disney marketing and the powers that be, should be ashamed of themselves. When little girls say they like it because it's more sparkly, that's all fine and good but, subconsciously, they are soaking in the sexy 'come hither' look and the skinny aspect of the new version. It's horrible! Merida was created to break that mold, to give young girls a better, stronger role model, a more attainable role model, something of substance, not just a pretty face that waits around for romance. Dr. Joyce Brothers Has Died

Celebrity psychologist DR. JOYCE BROTHERS died yesterday. She was 85. There's no word yet on the cause of death. Joyce was the ORIGINAL pop psychologist, kind of the prototype for DR. PHIL and DR. DREW, except that people actually LIKED her.

She appeared in tons of movies and TV shows, both as herself and in character. She was on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" almost 100 times. She was also a prolific author and columnist. Brothers first rose to fame in the late 1950s, when she appeared on both "The $64,000 Question" and "The $64,000 Challenge", and WON THEM BOTH.

This was around the time of the infamous "Quiz Show" cheating scandals, but she was exonerated of any wrongdoing.

Seth Meyers Will Take Over "Late Night" When Jimmy Fallon Moves to "The Tonight Show"

It's official: SETH MEYERS from "Saturday Night Live" will take over for JIMMY FALLON on "Late Night" next year, after Fallon moves to "The Tonight Show". There's no premiere date for Seth's debut, but Fallon is taking over for JAY LENO sometime after NBC broadcasts the 2014 Winter Olympics next February. So it'll be around that time.

Obviously, Seth will have to leave "SNL" at some point, but it sounds like he's staying onboard through this coming fall. The "New York Times" says he'll leave by January to devote all his time to preparing for his new show. "SNL" boss Lorne Michaels is the executive producer of "Late Night".

Seth joked, "I only have to work for Lorne for five more years before I pay him back for the time I totaled his car. 12:30 on NBC has long been incredible real estate. I hope I can do it justice."

By the way, there's talk that the format of "Late Night" could be changed to something similar to the "Weekend Update" segment on "SNL" , or Comedy Central's "The Daily Show". But nothing has been decided yet.

Seth said, "I don't want to make any broad pronouncements about how the show is going to be, whether it's going to be the same or different. But I have to draw on my background in improvisational comedy and sketch comedy and stand-up comedy and try to find some mix of that."
