Would You Go to McDonald's for a Formal Sit-Down Dinner?
2/7/2013

It would be pretty surreal to go to a McDonald's, get seated by the maitre d', have a waitress take your order, wait patiently for your food, then eat it with a real fork, knife, and spoon. Do McNuggets really deserve that treatment? One McDonald's is going to find out. A McDonald's in Warilla, Australia is now the first one in the world to offer FORMAL SIT-DOWN DINING.
Glenn and Katia Dwarte own the franchise, and whenever their parents would come in, they'd serve them at the table, and have them eat with real silverware. Other customers noticed, and asked if they could try it too. So Glenn and Katia talked with the McDonald's global headquarters in Chicago, and got their blessing to try it.
And now they're having guests come in, sit down, and order. A server brings them their food and drinks on real plates and in real glasses, and they eat with real silverware. After a few days, Glenn and Katia say they're getting VERY positive reviews. There's no word if McDonald's plans on trying it out at any stores over here.
We looked into it, and it seems the closest thing America has to a fancy McDonald's like this place is one located at 160 Broadway in New York City. That location has a doorman, marble tables, and a LIVE PIANO PLAYER.
