Three Ways Your Commute Is Ruining Your Life

7/10/2012

According to a recent Brown University survey of 25,000 people, your daily commute might be affecting you more than you realize.  On average, people with a 60-minute commute, meaning 30 minutes each way, got about 30% less sleep than they would have otherwise.  So if you usually get six hours a night, you COULD be getting about eight.  Here are three more ways your commute might be ruining your life.

#1.)  You Exercise 16% Less.  On average, people who had REALLY long commutes, like 90 minutes each way, only set aside 14 minutes for exercise each day.

#2.)  You Have About 6% Less Time to Eat.  Plus, about 4% less time to MAKE breakfast and dinner, which means you're more likely to order delivery or make something unhealthy.

#3.)  You Waste the Little Free Time You DO Have Watching TV.  The one thing people in the study DIDN'T skimp on was TV time.  Even the ones who commuted three hours a day still made time for about an hour-and-a-half of television.
