Scientists Have Proven That "Jurassic Park" Can Never Happen
10/11/2012

We all know "Jurassic Park" wasn't real, but remember sitting there when the scientist explained how he pulled dinosaur DNA from a mosquito fossilized in amber, and thinking, "That sounds like it COULD happen." It can't. Scientists just definitively proved it.
A team at the University of Otago in New Zealand has found that DNA just doesn't last very long. Most DNA has a half-life of 521 years. Even if it's perfectly preserved, it's still unreadable after 1.5 million years. And no amount of technological advancement can change that. The last dinosaurs died 65 million years ago. So they're not getting cloned, at least not from their preserved DNA.
