Five Tricks for Not Looking Horrible in Online Video Chats
7/31/2012

There was a report recently that plastic surgery numbers are up, and the big reason was that people see how they look in Facebook photos and online chats, and FREAK OUT. Well, instead of dropping several thousand dollars to get your chin de-chubbified, the people at Skype put together a list of five tips for looking your best online . . .
#1.) Make sure you have several light sources around the room. That will keep you from having dark shadows, or looking too shiny. The best place to put a light is BEHIND the computer.
#2.) Make eye contact by looking at directly at the camera. Eye contact makes you more attractive.
#3.) Watch out for bold patterns and jewelry, since they can be distracting. And try to sit in front of a dark solid color.
#4.) Good posture is key. Don't slump.
#5.) Make sure the camera is directly in line with your forehead. And don't tilt a camera up at you, put the camera on a platform and tilt it DOWN toward you.
