We're All Suckers for Cheap Wine With Fancy Names
6/27/2012

No matter how much of a wine expert you think you are, you know deep down you're judging wine based on how much it COSTS, and how fancy it's supposed to be. We're ALL posers. According to a new survey, if a wine has a name that's foreign, complicated, or hard to pronounce, we'll pay an average of $2 more for a bottle of it.
In taste tests, people rated wine with fancy names as better tasting than the SAME WINE coming from a bottle with a normal name. And the more of a "wine snob" someone claimed to be, the more likely they were to praise the wine with the fancier name.
