Holiday Cooking & Food Seminars
8650 Boomtown Road, Reno, Nev. (I-80, Exit 4)
Saturday, November 3, 2012 to Saturday, December 1, 2012
Cabela’s will host a series of free cooking demonstrations on select Saturdays in November and December to show folks how to deep fry turkeys (Nov. 3 and 10), smoke pork loin (Nov. 17) and how to make tasty and healthy dehydrated fruit snacks (Dec. 1). All seminars and demonstrations are free and start at noon.
Smoking turkeys or other large cuts of meat are also popular this time of year and Doug and his staff will prepare a pork loin with a bourbon mountain mix dry rub and then slow smoke it for a terrific effect.
On December 1, the attention switches to holiday appetizers and prepared foods from the General Store as well as how to make delicious and healthy fruit snacks that are lightly seasoned to give them some extra flavor while prepared overnight in a 10-tray dehydrator. Hill’s staff will have some caramel apple-flavored apple chips and some banana split-flavored banana chips ready for tasting and we’ll show you how to cut up, season and load the fruit into the dehydrator at noon.
As part of “A Taste of Cabela’s” on Saturday, Dec. 1, soup and dip mixes will be featured in our General Store along with salsas and chips, flavored mustards with pretzels, jams, Cabela’s house coffee blends by Starbucks and additional prepared foods will be available for sampling all day.
