Prince Doesn't Understand Why Maroon 5 Recorded a Cover of "Kiss"

PRINCE isn't exactly thrilled with MAROON 5'S cover of his song "Kiss".  He says he generally doesn't mind artists covering songs in concert, but he doesn't understand why anyone would RECORD a cover.  Prince says, "Why do we need to hear another cover of a song someone else did?  Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what's already there."  (As much as we hate to admit it, he does have a point.)  It's unclear if he's even heard Maroon 5's version.

Maroon 5's version of "Kiss" was released on the deluxe version of their new album, "Overexposed".  Prince's original recording came out in 1986.  It was the lead single off his "Parade" album.
