Mariah Carey Says She Felt "Unsafe" on "American Idol" During the Nicki Minaj Drama
In an interview with BARBARA WALTERS that aired on "Nightline" last night, MARIAH CAREY confirmed that NICKI MINAJ threatened her on the set of "American Idol", and she took it seriously enough to hire extra security.
She said, "I just felt it was the appropriate thing to do. Sitting there on the road with two babies, I'm not going to take any chances. It felt like an unsafe work environment. Anytime anybody's reeling threats at somebody, you know, it's not appropriate. I'm a professional. I'm not used to that type of environment. For all the drama, I hope it helps the show. I think it's a classic, classy show, and it didn't need this. For me, ultimately, this is about the kids, the contestants."
Barbara said Mariah and Nicki have since made up. But who knows.
By the way, Barbara asked Mariah about the rumored $18 million she's making on "Idol". She wouldn't confirm that number, but said it was, "in the ballpark."
"Idol" premieres a week from tomorrow night, on January 16th.
