Adam Sandler's "The Chanukah Song" Was Wrong: Rod Carew Did Not Convert to Judaism
Believe it or not, it's been 18 YEARS since ADAM SANDLER released "The Chanukah Song". And after all this time, we're just now finding out that someone on his list of famous Jews is actually NOT Jewish after all. It's 66-year-old baseball legend ROD CAREW.
The verse goes like this:
"Put on your yarmulke, it's time for Chanukah,
The owner of the Seattle Super Sonic-ahs celebrates hanukkah.
"O.J. Simpson, not a Jew!
But guess who is: Hall of Famer Rod Carew, he converted."
Rod dropped the bomb after the paparazzi asked him about song. He said, "No, I'm not [Jewish] . . . I was about to convert, and I never did." He added that Adam DOES know that he made a mistake.
Regardless, he said he didn't mind being included in the song, because he got to meet Adam out of it, and they've become FRIENDS. TMZ has video of Rod's comments:
