Christina Aguilera's Message to the Entertainment Industry: "You're Working With a Fat Girl. Get Over It"

10/1/2012

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has a message for the entertainment industry:  She's nobody's skinny white girl anymore.  She's a delicious, candy-coated Ecuadorian minx and you need to get used to it.   During the promotion of her 2002 album "Stripped", she says, "I got tired of being a skinny, white girl.  I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl."

Around that time she gained 15 pounds, and everybody FREAKED.  She says, "They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight.  Basically, they told me I would affect a lot of people if I gained weight, the production, musical directors."

She took the bait, and by the time she was touring for her "Back to Basics" album in 2006, she was, "toothpick thin".  It was only in the last year that she took control of her own body.  And while working on her upcoming disc, she made sure the label execs knew what the deal was.

She says, "I told them, 'You are working with a fat girl.  Know it now and get over it.'  They need a reminder sometimes that I don't belong to them.  It's my body.  My body can't put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore . . . my body is just not on the table that way anymore."
