"Oz the Great and Powerful" Had the Best Opening of 2013 and the Third-Best March Debut Ever

"Oz the Great and Powerful"
 had a great weekend at the box office.  The movie easily had the biggest debut of the year, making $80.3 million in its first three days of release.

It's also the third-biggest March debut ever, behind "The Hunger Games", which opened with $152.5 million last year, and "Alice in Wonderland", which debuted to $116.1 million in 2010.

he only other big release this weekend, COLIN FARRELL's romantic thriller "Dead Man Down", fell flat making just $5.4 million in 4th place.  Here are this week's Top 10 movies:

 

1.)  (NEW)  "Oz The Great and Powerful", $80.3 million.

 

2.)  "Jack the Giant Slayer", $10 million.  Up to $43.8 million in its 2nd week.

 

3.)  "Identity Thief", $6.3 million.  Up to $117 million in its 5th week.

 

4.)  (NEW)  "Dead Man Down", $5.4 million.

 

5.)  "Snitch", $5.1 million.  Up to $31.9 million in its 3rd week.

 

6.)  "21 and Over", $5.06 million.  Up to $16.8 million in its 2nd week.

 

7.)  "Safe Haven", $3.8 million.  Up to $62.9 million in its 4th week.

 

8.)  "Silver Linings Playbook", $3.7 million.  Up to $121 million in its 17th week.

 

9.)  "Escape From Planet Earth", $3.2 million.  Up to $47.8 million in its 4th week.

 

10.)  "The Last Exorcism Part Two", $3.1 million.  Up to $12.1 million in its 2nd week.
