J.K. Rowling Could Return to the "Harry Potter" Universe if She Had the Right idea
Poor J.K. ROWLING. She's given "Harry Potter" fans all they could ever want through seven books, some of which were MASSIVE. And she just wrote a new book for grown-ups, which she'd probably like to talk about. And yet still, all anybody wants to know is if she'll ever write a new "Harry Potter" book. Although she did stoke the fires in a new interview, saying she wouldn't rule out a return to that universe.
She said she'd be "very averse" to a sequel or a prequel, but a spin-off is a possibility. She said, "I don't want to go mechanically back into that world and pick up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, 'Here we go, we can sell this.' But if I did have a great idea for something else, I probably would do it."
Another thing she suggested is going back and fleshing out one of the earlier novels, because her publishing scheduled forced her to release some of them before they were ready. She said, "There were a couple of the Potters [that] I definitely knew that they needed another year. I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think 'Oh God, maybe I'll go back and do a director's cut', I don't know."
