Jessica Simpson Will Star in an NBC Sitcom Based on Her Life
JESSICA SIMPSON is coming to TV. Yesterday, NBC announced that they're developing a sitcom inspired by Jessica's life, with Jessica playing herself. There aren't many details yet. There isn't even a title. All we know is that her character will, "approach a variety of 'everyday' circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud."
Jessica says, "I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life, so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!"
NBC is pretty pumped about it, in fact, one exec even referred to Jessica as, "truly a modern-day LUCILLE BALL, with incredible comedic chops." Back in 2004, ABC was developing a sitcom that would star Jessica as a news anchor, but it never got off the ground. (Perhaps they lacked the insight to recognize Jessica as a "modern-day Lucille Ball.") There's no timetable for this new show yet, so even though Jessica is pregnant now, she may not be once they're ready to put her in front of the camera.
