"Two and a Half Men" Star Angus T. Jones Calls the Show "Filth" and Asks People to Stop Watching It
"Two and a Half Men" has another problem on its hands. Just two years after CHARLIE SHEEN'S infamous meltdown, another one of the show's stars has RIPPED the show, and apparently wants out. 19-year-old ANGUS T. JONES recently gave a long video interview to a religious website called "Forerunner Chronicles", and in the middle of it, he expressed moral objections to the show, and suggested that people stop watching it.
And he was totally serious. Angus said, "Jake from 'Two and a Half Men' means nothing, he's a non-existent character. If you watch 'Two and a Half Men', please stop watching 'Two and a Half Men'. I'm on 'Two and a Half Men' and I don't want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth. People say it's just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you, you'll have a decision to make when it comes to television . . . Especially with what you watch."
He also referred to the show as being part of the "plan" of the "enemy," which we assume to be Satan. He said, "If I'm doing any harm, I don't want to be here. I don't want to be contributing to the enemy's plan. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can't. I'm not OK with what I'm learning, what the Bible says and being on that television show."
Thenterview was about a half-hour long, and just hit YouTube in two parts. Here's Part One, and here's Part Two. The comments about "Two and a Half Men" begin at the 7:37 mark of Part Two.
Obviously, Angus seems to be a very religious person, and of course, there's nothing wrong with that. It's unclear how long he's had these beliefs about the show and TV as a whole, specifically, that "Two and a Half Men"is FILTH. He does say he recently became more serious about his faith, after realizing that his life was on a "downward trend," which included drug use and speeding tickets. As for the drug use, he says he was dropping acid and smoking pot.
But it's worth noting that as far as we know, Angus hasn't made any moves to separate himself from the show, which has made him an INSANE amount of money. Two years ago, he signed a contract extension that guaranteed him $7.9 MILLION over two seasons. And just this past May, he accepted a salary bump up to $350,000 per episode. Angus has not commented or elaborated on his "testimonial", and no one from CBS or the show has responded to his remarks.
Britain's "Daily Mail" tabloid says Angus' mom, told them she was, "concerned" that Angus was being "exploited by the church," but she didn't elaborate.
For what it's worth, "Entertainment Weekly" suggests that Angus could be in violation of his contract, if it included a typical clause that prohibits someone from making disparaging comments about the show. But they do add that it would be surprising for the show to act on that even if there was one, especially since Angus is such an integral part of the show.
